OOC: Originally, I had the title as Fun, Games, and Foreshadowing, but I decided to change it. The War to Come sounds much cooler, and it actually foreshadows something better than the word foreshadowing. Also, I'd like to make a note that this thread is a continuation from The Morning After. The morning after finally came. As Atari walked out of his room to prepare for the simple reconnaissance mission, Matsu, his older brother, stopped him. "Hey. Didn't see you all of last night. You're up pretty early too," he spoke up, catching his younger sibling's attention. Continuing to the restroom, Atari quickly replied, "I was at Engel's place yesterday, and I got some work today." Matsu understood what his younger sibling meant and headed downstairs to prepare some breakfast. They finished their meal with small talk and cleaned up the plates before splitting to do their own business.
A short "good bye" escaped Atari's lips as he walked out the front door. His next destination would be the clock tower where he would meet with that woman and Engel. He decided to call ahead of time to notify that they would have a guest. "What?! You invited your friend to our date?!" the woman screamed through the phone, keeping the conversation as normal as possible. The young man allowed her to continue on without saying anything back. This went on for quite some time as he kept walking towards their meet-up area until she finally ran out of insults to say. "Fine! Whatever. If anything goes down, you're taking all the blame for it. Got that, Mr. Big Shot?!" Atari replied indifferently towards her and hung up the phone.
Since the clock tower was still a good distance away, he called up Engel as well. He stopped at a light as the pedestrian sign signaled for him to stop. 'I guess I'll have to wait for the next light,' he thought, looking around at the same time. Nothing was out of the ordinary as he waited with several other people at the stop light. The phone rang several times before the familiar click sounded. He would go on to notify Engel how the woman from before was going to be there again.
On this beautiful Sunday morning, the circus workers had finally finished setting up their tents. The performance tent had taken the longest to prepare since it held thousands of seating arrangements for the audience members. There were a lot of equipment to move as well, including the gravity controller. Luckily, everything was readied thanks to the help of all the circus members. Afterwards, they gathered to share a meal together as a large family. Laughter filled the air. Everyone talked, so things got pretty loud. It did not last long because many of them needed to prepare themselves for their upcoming performance.
In a private tent far from the main stage, a young girl with long white hair started undressing. She pulled off her usual sleeveless blue turtleneck shirt and shorts, placing them on the cot beside her. 'I better hurry up before they rush us again,' she thought as she put on her slightly revealing gypsy outfit. 'Lunas,' a voice in her head called out to her. The young girl named Lunas turned around to see her childhood friend standing at the entrance to their tent. "Hey. I'm ready now. You should hurry up and get ready too. I'll go and get the fortune telling booth set up for you. If you need anything, just tell me. I'll hear you no matter how far we are from each other," she said, walking up to her friend and smiling widely. With that said, she left the tent and headed to their booth.
Actually, it was another small tent, filled with many trinkets and decorated with vibrant fabrics that hung around the room. Lunas made sure that everything was in place and sat down at the table, waiting for her friend to come.

Engel yawned, still a bit tired after preparing everything so that he could go with Atari for the day. He met with one of his fellow shinigamis at the door and pointed out some things, not catching any gripe from his subordinate with being ordered to babysit. Sena was still sleeping when he walked out the door. He knew she was in good hands. With that, he set off to the meeting area a little ahead of schedule. A familiar ring made him grab his phone and answer it. Delighted to hear his friend's voice, he listened to Atari as he was walking up to his destination. Finding the meeting point, he looked around the crowd to see if he could spot his shorter friend. Engel did spot a familiar woman. He could tell by her hair, but it could have just been one of his students that he had seen during the week. Her features didn't stand out enough to where he could figure it out. Atari was finally spotted walking up, so he waved to get his attention.
Solaris was a bit relieved to find Lunas had just been getting ready and left to prep their area. He smiled back at her, watching as she walked out of the tent. His thoughts followed her gently, thinking, 'I'll help you finish prepping after I get dressed.' He grabbed the clothes that had been laid out for him, undressed, and started to put them on carefully. To finish his outfit, he grabbed a crystal ball, and rushed out to catch up with Lunas. He could always tell when he was getting closer to her, because the garble of people talking in his mind just on the other side of a thin wall would luckily became thicker the closer he was to Lunas to the point where he could be alone in his own head. Arriving at the tent, he set the crystal ball down on its little stand at the center of the table and adjusted his sleeves. He still wasn't used to his new outfit. He looked at Lunas' outfit, finally feeling his face redden a bit. He hadn't gotten to really look at it until now. The circus' master seamstress put together new outfits for both of them upon joining the circus. This was going to be their first appearance as a member of the circus. He whispered softly, "I like the new outfit." The Middle Eastern theme could strongly be felt between both their outfits. His hat seemed to be a little funny to him, making it look like he should have a monkey on his shoulder like the cartoon he and Lunas saw as little kids.

OOC: I feel like these next few posts are going to be long just because we have two scenarios going! It's almost time for these two events to merge with one another! (Almost, but it'll probably be a while. Hehe.)
Arriving at the appointed destination, Atari caught sight of the woman from the other night. She looked just as angry as she had sounded on the phone. Her arms were crossed over her chest, and she glared at the young man angrily. Atari was about to open his mouth, but his hearing caught a familiar voice calling out to him. Looking to the side, he saw his friend, waving at him enthusiastically. At the corner of his eye, he caught sight of the woman sighing. Her expression calmed a bit, and she let her hands fall to her side. This was a good sign because he did not want to waste any time explaining their situation. Atari just motioned back at Engel and waited beside the woman.
When his friend reached them, Atari gave a short introduction between the two since he was the mutual friend. She gave a short 'hmph' and pulled out two ear pieces. Giving one to Atari, she rudely stated, "I'm short on one because I didn't get a memo that you were going to bring a friend." Her snarky comment did not affect Atari one bit as he handed it to Engel. "You can use this one," he told the older man, pulling out another from his waist bag. Knowing that bringing Engel was unexpected, he had prepared an extra ear piece for the occasion. "Now that that's settled, let's head inside," Atari said, leading them to the front entrance. Even though the circus had only arrived on Friday and opened on Sunday, there were many guests filing in. "The place is already this crowded," he mumbled, unconsciously speaking his thoughts aloud. They continued through the entrance, paying for their tickets and began wandering around nonchalantly. 'This can make recon a bit easier,' he thought, looking around his surroundings.
There were couples, families, and even high schoolers walking around the area. Some of them held cotton candies of various colors. As the three of them walked on, there was an announcement throughout the entire area stating that a small show would be available at the main tents. A group of high school girls walked past them and started talking about whether to check out the show or visit the fortune tellers. Atari stopped walking and turned to the other two and said, "One of us should go check out the show. Someone else can check out those fortune tellers. The last one can keep looking around. We're only here to observe. Not to cause any problems. If anything happens, just talk through the comms." He stood there, waiting for them to agree to his plans or suggest otherwise.
Lunas smiled when Solaris finally entered the tent. He placed the crystal ball down, and to her surprise, complimented her outfit. She had doubts at first about her appearance, wondering if it looked good at all. When he complimented her outfit, she blushed and turned her gaze, stuttering out, "W-Well th-thanks... you look good in yours too." The young teenage girl ushered him to his seat and headed to the entrance of their tent. Hooking the flaps up to the side, she attempted to smile at the people walking by in hopes of getting a few customers in. Some men approached her and tried to start some small talk, but to no avail. She only asked them to get their fortunes taken, which they complied to, wanting to talk with her more.
As they walked in, one of the men placed a hand on her bare shoulder as a thanking gesture. It irritated Lunas a lot, but she withheld her rude comments and forced a smile. The two men sat down at the table across from Solaris, who had been watching the entire scene. 'These men are such scumbags,' she thought, letting Solaris hear it as well. She walked past the men and stood beside her fortune-telling friend, waiting for the moment to assist Solaris if needed. The young girl glanced down to lock eyes with the young man. 'Let me know if it starts to hurt,' she said to Solaris through telepathy. Her orange-tinted amber eyes stared back at their customers. The only private thoughts that ran through her mind was, 'I wish we don't have to deal with these jerks all day...'

Engel took the earpiece as they walked into the circus and fastened it to his ear. He had to admit it wasn’t too much different than some blue tooth devices he had used with his phone, perhaps just a bit smaller. He introduced himself to Atari’s coworker and kept his opinions to himself with a businesslike manner. Upon Atari’s suggested orders he didn’t mind where he went, but wasn’t too fond of being sent to check out fortune tellers. Being a man of science such pseudoscience things didn’t peek his interest. Letting Atari know his decision he said, “I’m up for wandering around, looking for anything out of place.” He waited for the response, pretty use to taking orders back in soul society. Engel was a bit surprised to see there were a lot more people now when they had first came in, looked to him like the circus must be a popular one.
Solaris could already tell that these men would have distasteful thoughts among them. He didn't let it show though, he gave a brilliant smile as he would to any client, and said, "Ok gentlemen lets gaze into the future!" With enthusiasm he waved his hands for them to sit and placed his hands on the crystal ball. He gently closed his eyes focusing on the clear orb, helping him clear his mind and focus on the minds of the two in front of him. He wasn't sure if the ball really helped or not, but even it was a placebo effect it made him feel better. He dove past the impure thoughts on the forefront of their minds ignoring them delving into the deeper parts of their subconscious.
It took about about ten minutes for each of them as he recited stuff from their wants and dreams that could be vague, and give them a little hope for their futures. It would always surprise him when he would use names of people they knew, and perhaps for these two individuals he did point out signs of their older relatives having little time left. It wasn't the nicest thing, but as he pulled away from their minds he did think towards Lunas, "That didn't go to badly." The men paid Lunas as they walked out, and as she went back to the entrance to entrap more customers he kept the next thought to himself, 'Good thing she can't see whats in half their heads.' He imagined a lot of apologies would be involved as he smiled towards her knowing she would sense it.

Before Atari could speak up, the woman quickly volunteered, saying, "I'll go check out the performance. I don't really like having my life pried into." Without another word, she walked off into the crowd. To his dismay, Atari did not even get a chance to tell her to stay in contact. Placing a hand to his ear, he told the woman in a serious tone, "If anything happens, call me right away." He sighed in an exasperated manner while watching the girl wave her hand in response. In a matter of seconds, she disappeared behind the constantly moving crowd. Biting his lower lip, he thought to himself, 'Why do I have to work with her again of all people?' He turned away, not wanting Engel to see the irritation on his face. "I'll go check out the fortune tellers. Call me with the comm if anything happens," he said monotonously, pointing to his ear piece. Without looking Engel in the eye, he muttered a short "be careful" as he left to search for the fortune teller the girls talked about.
It took him quite some time to find the tent with all the people around. When he found it, a beautiful girl with white hair, dressed in a gypsy's outfit, was calling out into the crowd. "Come get your fortune told. Find out what your future holds!" she called out. A couple of people approached her before Atari could, so he stood behind them and waited. She looked behind the group and noticed him. "I'll be right with you as soon as I can," she said in a serene manner. Turning her attention back towards the first group, she smiled at them and lifted the flap open more so that they could all go through. Atari stood outside, waiting for the people in front of him to finish. "I guess this is it... I'll just wait till they're done," he muttered his thoughts aloud, looking around his surroundings. 'I wonder if that girl is the fortune teller.'
Again and again, Lunas would go outside to usher in more customers. She did not think much of it since this was her job. There were always going to be good and bad types of people that came along, and she dealt with them all the same. As she stood outside, a friendly group of college boys and girls approached her. The girls were quite excited, so their male friends agreed to go along. Before leading them into the tent, Lunas saw another boy that seemed separate from the group. Assuming that they did not know each other, she told him that she would get to him as soon as she could. With that, she led the group in to see Solaris.
They sat down across the table, and Solaris began with the usual. Vague questions and hopeful answers always followed, and it really got the girls going. Lunas watched as her friend had a strained look on his face. 'Are you alright? It's because there's too many people here, isn't it?' she asked him with her thoughts. Even though she was worried, she kept a calm look as to not disturb their customers. She placed a hand to his back and began soothing his pain.
The rest of the time went smoothly. They were quite satisfied and paid for Solaris' and Lunas' services, leaving the tent with much to talk about. Lunas took a little time to lean down next to Solaris and stared at him with a worried expression on her face. "If you want a break, just let me know. I'll be right back. There's another customer waiting outside already," she said softly, standing back up and heading for the entrance. 'Remember, tell me if you need the break,' she told him through telepathy.
When she went outside, she saw the young man waiting patiently right by the entrance. With a deep breath, she walked forward to greet him, trying her best to smile at him when he noticed that she had come out. "We're ready for you now. Please come inside," she said, leading the man in and sitting him down across from Solaris. While she walked over to Solaris' side, she thought to herself how this man was a little strange. He was not like the other customers, who came in smiling or flirting. The man had kept a neutral expression all this time. It was just a simple thought on Lunas' end; and eventually, she left the thought alone as their fortune telling session was about to begin.
The group of people before him had finally left after a few minutes passed. Even though they exited, Atari waited for the girl to come out before heading in. When she did, he was led inside to a small round table resting on a raised platform. The fortune teller, a young man that looked to be in his teens, sat there waiting. Atari walked up onto the platform and sat down on the chair across from the fortune teller. The entire place looked a bit overdone and exaggerated. 'I wonder if this is even real...' he thought, staring at the two people in front of him. 'They look a little too young to be fortune tellers.' He cleared his throat and greeted them after sitting silently for quite some time. "Hi. So how is this going to work?" he asked, curious as to where and how they were going to start.
OOC: I hope you like it. I tried to push the story along, and I left you with several things to respond to. Enjoy!

Engel walked off on his own, observing the stalls and other circus goers as he went along. Some of the younger children walking around were quite loud and pushed around a lot. Nothing truly stood out to him, so he took a bit of time to stand in line and get a stick of cotton candy. He felt like the cotton candy made him fit in a little better now and began to follow a few groups, eyeing some more stalls. It was actually a bit surprising at how big the circus was. He could be wandering around for hours just checking all the stalls.
Solaris didn't want to admit to Lunas that she was right, and he was about due for a break. Her abilities were great, but they had their limits. Solaris smiled at Lunas as she stood behind him and thought to her, "You're right. Let's have a break after this newcomer." He made eye contact with the older man, addressing the question in a familiar manner. "No need to worry. You just sit there, and I'll peak into your future."
That was usually enough for people, so he closed his eyes and placed his hands onto the orb in front of him. He probed lightly forward into Atari's mind for the most recent memories, having them slowly come to the forefront of Solaris' thoughts. It wasn't what he expected. The recent mission Atari had completed was what he saw. He lost focus, taking his hands from the orb and grabbing at his temples as a migraine grew. Barely able to think out, "Lunas help... please..." Solaris had a pained look on his face, eyes closed tightly, but quite obvious to their new patron's view.
ooc: Left it pretty open, wasn't to sure how deep to go with Solaris. I figure the emotional shock of going into having to unalive people would be quite a shock to the system.

OOC: Sneaky, sneaky.
The young fortune teller's reaction was unexpected. What did he just see? Was it merely an act? Still, Atari had to remain calm, or at least show some concern for another person's well-being instead of appearing suspicious. He held back from asking the boy what he had seen and asked, "Are you alright?" It seemed natural enough, right? Atari had stood up, wanting to move closer to check on the orange haired boy, but was stopped by the white-haired girl. "Don't come any closer!" she yelled at him, putting a hand out to stop him. Atari could only stand a short distance away and watched the scene unfold in front of him. In his mind, he needed to know what the boy had saw. Thus, he waited.
Lunas barely kept her attitude in check when their customer tried to approach Solaris. She managed to stop the young college boy from getting any closer to Solaris. At a time like this, she avoided speaking to Solaris through telepathy. Her lips parted, and she spoke, "S-Solaris. Are you okay?" She did not wait for a reply as she publicly healed Solaris in front of Atari. Her hands began to glow a soft white light, and she could feel the energy within Solaris begin to circulate. She turned her head to Atari, wanting to ask him to leave, but stopped. Would that even be a good idea?

Solaris was biting down as hard as he could to prevent himself from yelling out in pain. He thought he heard Lunas yell, but it was all just background noise with all the memories he had seen mashing themselves together, Atari’s being the only ones he could make any sense of having been the most recent. As Lunas started to heal him the memories became less chaotic, and slowly the background noise dissipated, all but the most recent memories he had taken were playing through his head now. From a quick flash of the adrenaline rush it was to be repelling off of a roof, another flash emotions confused looking across the table at an old friend, flash a girl showing off bathing suits. These continued for a couple minutes as Lunas’s touch soothed his mind.
When Solaris was able to open his eyes he could see Atari sitting across from him with a look of concern. Finally able to relax his jaw he rolled it around a little feeling it was pretty sore. He patted Lunas’s hand that was still rested on him, and gave her a smile a silent thanks knowing no words or thoughts could be thanks enough. Giving a completely different smile to Atari he said, “I’m fine sorry for the theatrics, sometimes looking into the future is a bit overwhelming.” Trying to put their patron at ease he said, “So, what were you wanting to know about your future, Atari?” He through the name that hadn’t been given to him yet, hoping that it would convince him of his abilities.

During the situation, Atari had returned to his seat and waited to see what was going to happen. The young girl's hands had started to emit a strange glow, and soon enough, the boy returned to normal. Solaris had offered his apologies and asked Atari some questions, showing that it was fine to continue. Atari was a bit surprised, but nodded as he thought of what to ask. He had to choose his words carefully. If the boy had really been able to read the future, there was probably a lot of things that he should not have seen. 'This was a bad idea...' he thought, contemplating what his next move was. He remained quiet for some time until a solemn memory pushed its way to the surface. Atari spoke without thinking, and he asked, "Where is... Yinx?" His eyes widened at the words that ran out of his mouth. 'Why did I say her name...?' wondered the young man. Even so, he looked toward the fortune teller and waited for a reply. Where did the girl that saved his life go? Surely things would be different now if she had stayed. He would not be in love with him. He would not be so protective of her.
OOC: First off, I hope you understand who those last two people that I mentioned were! If not, just ask me. Anyway, feel free to put whatever twist you want with Yinx, but just don't kill her. I like the mystery of her being missing for all these years to continue on. It really changes how Atari is. You can go through the memory of how she saved him, his declaration of how his life is hers, etc...

Solaris’s smile dropped not expecting a question like that. The name was familiar as Atari thought of them he could catch glimpses of an empty grave, and a young girl nursing him back to health after a gunshot. Filling Atari’s mind will false hopes or truths was not something Solaris could do and sleep easy at night. He thought a moment trying to approach the question carefully. “I’m sorry, but your future is very chaotic…” He trailed off just a bit as he remembered past missions Atari had done for the resistance, having wanted to say bloody. “I didn’t see anything about your friend at least nothing I could tell amongst the many fights you will have.” Solaris couldn’t explain why this one person out of many that had come through stood out amongst so many others, perhaps it was because of his violent memories, so much more than any other of the tournament he had seen so far. Looking away he tried to hide some of the sorrow the memories had brought to him and asked, “Is there anything else?”
ooc: Hmm so many interesting things could happen

Again, there is no news of Yinx. The girl had disappeared from his life as quickly as she had entered it. Slowly, the memories were becoming hazy, but he kept a hold on them in hopes that they would be reunited. What comes after? Would they have a friendly reunion and fall in love? Would they become enemies? He would just have to wait until the time comes. Still, Atari did not completely understand why he tried so hard to keep the memory of her alive. Even though he has grown so much with Engel and Elizabeth, that feeling of longing was strange. Maybe it was because she kept him alive when they first met. Maybe.
After keeping quiet for some time, he looked up and stared at Solaris. Although he could not figure out what this fortune teller's powers were, he knew that the boy saw something. The intense spectacle was not just for show. Atari wagered this and stated, "You haven't given me a straight answer since I've come here. Everyone that has powers would definitely have gone through some rough fights. So tell me, what is it that you saw?" Atari had a feeling that even though he asked in such a serious manner, the boy would probably feign innocence and continue this charade. He was prepared to push forward if needed. 'His powers may even be useful to the U.R. if he really can see the future. But if he's going to resist and act like a fool, I'll have to kill him.'
OOC: Atari won't kill Solaris... I wouldn't want to leave Lunas all alone anyway. But we have to get past this somehow! Go put up your front if you want to! Or give up (because maybe Solaris can feel that Atari will kill him if he doesn't tell the truth). Anyway, I'll look forward to seeing your response.

The thought of Atari being frustrated enough to kill him did cross his mind, and he couldn’t quite tell if it was Atari’s thoughts, or his own playing tricks on him after he had seen what the young man was capable of. Solaris didn’t like the questions so he finally said, “You don’t come to a fortune teller for straight answers, and asking what I saw would not be the right question. I didn’t just see, I smelled, heard, tasted, and lived everything.” Solaris was irritated at this point, but tried to keep a friendly demeanor. Looking towards the direction to the large tent Solaris could tell people had wandered from the tent to start getting good seats for the big main events, which would give them a bit more privacy from any eavesdroppers.
He could feel Lunas’s hand finally leave him, and he felt much better than before. Looking at Atari dead in the eyes he said, “How about this Atari, my name is Solaris, and what have you really come here to ask me today.” The tension in the air grew as he waited for a response, wanting to know if Atari like others just wanted to use him as a tool.

Although he was being cautious of the two supernaturally empowered teenagers, Atari did not draw his weapons. He understood that these two were under circus regulations that banned them from participating in the tournament; therefore, they would not attack him for those reasons alone. With nothing else to do expect wait, he returned to his seat and watched the scene. Atari remained calm, studying every aspect of the two. 'The glow from the young girl's hand might be some sort of healing ability since that orange-haired kid seems fine now,' he thought, turning his attention towards the boy. 'And this kid definitely saw something he probably shouldn't have.'
Before long, Solaris spoke up, and the tone within his voice betrayed his irritation. Atari replied to the young boy in a stern manner, "Look kid. I didn't come here to be played a fool. Anyone who's participating in the tournament would have gone through rough fights. And you wouldn't have said that the future's going to be bad if you didn't see something you shouldn't have. Can you really see the future, or are you just bluffing?" 'If this kid can't really see the future, then there's nothing I need from him. There's no point in getting powerless kids involved in this... especially not with the U.R., government, or those crazies in the cult.'

With a grimace to all the recent thoughts running through Atari's mind, he couldn't pick out anything other than irritation. With an audible sigh he said, "Fine, in your case we will call it a deduction. Your arm is injured you get injured in fights, so future ones are going to be rough." He crossed his arms and continued, "I do have abilities, but they might not work the way you think, and they show me enough. You've had a bloody past, and honestly I don't want to know any more about it than I would any other person. Is that good enough for you?" He looked at Lunas wondering if she wanted to input anything, hoping she was getting as tired of this guy as he was.
OOC: Sigh... Solaris is supposed to be the positive one, funny how much Atari is getting him worked up.

Atari kept a straight face. 'This kid has some good observational skills for his age. He said something about my past, but didn't mention anything about the future. I guess I can take it that he can't really see it. I won't need to get him involved, but...' his thoughts strayed as he watched the two from across the table just about kick him out while he contemplated the situation. "If you saw my past, then you know what's happening. If you keep quiet, I have no intention of getting you two involved at all," Atari explained what was going on through his head. Getting up from his seat, he added, "Whatever your ability is, be careful. You could get yourself into trouble if you don't keep your mouth shut." With that, he paid for his session and left the tent.
Having the sunlight hit his eyes, he winced slightly. "Tch... too bright..." he muttered under his breath. It took some time before his eyes adjusted. Since his visit to the fortune tellers was completed, he reached for his ear piece and turned on his mic. "There wasn't anything at the fortune tellers. What about you guys?" he asked Engel and his U.R. partner in a hushed voice. Surprisingly, the mass crowds had cleared up a bit, which made it easier to look around.
When Atari left their tent, Lunas let out an angry cry. "UGH! Why do we have to deal with creeps like that?! He may be cute, but that doesn't give him the right to act like such an a-hole!" she ranted. This went on for a few more minutes before she calmed down enough to ask if Solaris was okay. She sighed out and spoke softly, "H-Hey Solaris... you alright? Whatever you saw, it wasn't good, was it? I haven't seen you in that much pain for a while. If you want, I-I can keep healing you while we take a break." Whenever she was with Solaris, she would get all shy, and it was one of those things that she had not figured out yet. All she could do at the moment was kneel beside his chair and look up towards him with a sweet smile and concerned expression.
