Black Cat (Anime) | Original Character Design
Name: Kuro, Atari
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Japanese
Personality: Atari was an unsociable person during his youth since he grew up in an uncaring environment. Several people changed that by showing him the kindness that he never received. In a way, he was saved physically and mentally at that time when he met “her.” Now, he has opened up more to others, and even finds relief to know that one of his partners has yet to leave him. Much of his emotions are still kept hidden though since he does not wish to impose his problems upon others. His once stoic expression fortunately softened and a smile often graces his feminine face.
His strong disrespect towards authoritative figures originated from his hatred towards the Seraphim. He believes that they created unnecessary chaos by planting the idea that humans can become gods. It made the world more troublesome since non-participants grew to fear the combatants or worship them. In other words, Atari disliked the attention that it brought.
When Atari is on the battlefield, his prowess as an ex-assassin of the Chronos numbers shines brighter than the moon. Even though he hated the Seraphim (and Chronos), he continues to fight in this grand tournament to protect the precious lives that were given to them. He would not have done so in the past, having once believed that the end meant nothing. Now, he will strive to reach the top in hopes of repaying the kindness he was once shown.
The one thing that did not change is that he will enter verbal arguments for the enjoyment of iterating smart-ass retorts.
Description: Four years passed by in the blink of an eye. The ongoing battle that was brought to Earth by the Seraphim forced Atari to strengthen himself. He added muscle to his 5’5” (165.10 cm) slender and flexible figure. His luscious chocolate brown hair grew to the length of his shoulder blades. Only two patches of amber tips remain on the top of his head. His once beautiful light tan skin turned paler during his training underground. The only thing remained unchanged were his beautiful eyes that blazes with a fiery scarlet red. After the second incident that hit Japan, Atari’s appearance has changed and now closely resembles that of his older brother Matsu, except for the color of their hair and eyes.
Since entering college, his clothing consisted of long-sleeved V-necks, T-shirts, tank tops, and other casual wear. He does not wear any type of accessory such as watches, necklaces, etc… except for a pouch around his waist that is strapped onto a belt, holding his metallic claws (which have been upgraded during his stay in the underground hideout).
The number VII (7) is tattooed on his chest where his heart should be to because of his previous position in the Chronos numbers. His choice in clothing will usually hide it from sight to avoid involvement with past enemies.
Biography: Atari Kuro was born into a busy family and forced to care for himself, provided with the limited essential items. His father worked as a businessman selling stock, conversing with other companies, and managing merges while his mother held an accounting job with one of the top firms in the country. He grew up alone, unable to celebrate any holidays or birthdays. When he grew old enough (at the age of 14), his parents allowed him his own two-story compact house. They sent money to him every month or so to pay for his living expenses. This created more distance between him and his family. Atari joined the Chronos and did a variety of missions including assassination and protection jobs. Due to his occupation, he was able to gain more knowledge through his interactions with clients and targets. He left the organization a year later when the Seraphim descended from the heavens and began the grand battle.
He lived his days alone with little to no care for humanity’s sake and avoided as much human contact as possible (aside from the unavoidable fights). His parents, only worrying about success, provided enough for him. Along with the money he acquired from his work with the Chronos numbers, he did not have to worry about obtaining a job to support his living expenses.
At that point in time, he had just started high school. His grades were average due to his lack of interest in studying. Many of the teachers saw him as a delinquent because of his attitude and disregard for authoritative figures. He would even skip classes just to take long cat naps by the cherry blossom trees. The only interest he had was in training, which was the sort of mentality he gained ever since he had joined Chronos. Most of what he did was, in a way, to gain acceptance from people ever since his parents had abandoned him. Deep down, he also wanted acceptance from the brother he never knew… the one he had forgotten.
Things changed the night he was attacked without an official battle declaration and left seriously wounded. In the dark of night, he lay motionless, bleeding out with no chance of survival. It may have been a fated meeting. A girl walked by and decided to bring this injured boy to her house and bandage his wounds. When Atari woke up and found that he was still alive, he declared his loyalties to his savior as a sign of gratitude (since he did not know how else to repay his debt). Although he continued to fight, he did not feel alone anymore. Unfortunately, these happy moments did not last. A large incident occurred that separated him from most of his newfound friends, except for one.
During the second year of high school, he met with some new interesting people. Even though he built walls to protect himself from feeling that painful sensation of loss, he let a female necromancer get close to him. As much as he hated to admit, she became his friend when he needed one the most. Alas, the same thing happened. In a surprising turn of events, his brother Matsu reappeared at last to support him and barely managed to saved Atari from harm.
About four years passed since the second major event hit Japan. With a new resolve, Atari secretly trained with the underground rebels to become stronger in hopes of winning the grand tournament set by the Seraphim. With his goals aligned with the rebels, the gained support would become a valuable asset. It was only a matter of time until the true finale would show itself. Until then, he continued on to the OUAD university.
Weapon Design: Metallic Claws { These beauties are made from one of the hardest minerals found deep within the earth. Atari obtained an upgrade after high school during his stay in the underground, which allows for easier use and movement. These metallic claws specialize in close quarter combat, acting as both the attacking force and blocking most physical attacks. As a final preventive measure against supernatural forces, the metallic claws are imbued with defensive magic.
