When Engel spoke up, Atari stopped cold in his tracks. He slowly turned around and looked up to stare at the older man’s bruised face. His hand reached out to touch it. Gently, he ran his finger along the man’s cheek to jaw. With sadness in his eyes, he spoke softly, “Does it hurt…?”
Unable to take any more of the feelings building up inside of him, he turned his gaze, leaving his hand to rest on Engel’s cheek. Eventually, he pulled his hand back and turned away. Atari avoided looking Engel in the eyes and explained the current situation, “We need to find the fortune teller. I wasn’t sure if he really could read my mind, but after what that muscle guy said… and what the doppelganger is looking for… I’m sure that he can. We need to find him before they do.” With that said, he started walking towards the fortune teller’s tent with Engel beside him.
Lunas barely managed a nod when Solaris pulled her away from the fight. A worried expression distorted her beautiful face as they headed back into the circus area. Once they were at a safe distance, Lunas saw Solaris breathe a sigh of relief. He asked if she wanted to get the corn before changing out of their outfits. After the incident earlier, she decided that it would be best to grab some food before returning back to the trailers, even though they stuck out a lot in their costumes. Without saying a word, she stared at Solaris, believing that he would understand her answer and pull her along to the food stands.
It was a bit difficult to find the tent since there were no maps available to navigate around the circus. Luckily, they managed to return to the area that the fortune teller’s tent resided in and found the tent closed for a break. With a bit of anxiety, they entered without permission and found no one there. The entire tent was trashed from top to bottom. Tables were turned and miscellaneous décor were scattered everywhere. Some of the glass pieces were shattered on the ground. “Tch… they found this place before us,” he muttered, pushing aside the table to get a better look. After a while of investigating the scene, Atari turned to Engel and said, “It’s no use in staying here. If they had to trash this place, that means they didn’t find the kid yet. We still have a chance.”
Before leaving to search for the boy, Atari grabbed a piece of cloth, stuffing it into his waist bag. He pulled out his phone in exchange and called home, thinking, ‘I’ve been one step behind them this entire time… I can’t keep playing it safe.’ The phone rang, but no one picked up. It went to the answering machine. “Ryoshi, come to the circus immediately. I need your help tracking someone,” he stated and ended the call. He looked at Engel and motioned for them to leave. “Let’s keep searching. Ryoshi will meet up with us soon,” Atari said as he parted the tent flap and exited. He looked around the bustling area and let out an exasperated sigh. “Let’s stick together just in case too.”
OOC: I couldn't help but add some EngelxAtari fluff at the beginning. I had it in my head for soooooooo long!
